Uzhydromet issues urgent weather warning

The Center of Hydrometeorological Service of Uzbekistan (Uzhydromet) has issued an urgent warning about the risk of mudslides and flooding in mountainous and foothill areas of the country due to expected rainfall between May 23 and 27.

According to the report, the following regions may be affected:

Kashkadarya region: Yakkabag, Dehkanabad, Chirakchi, Kitab, Shakhrisabz, Kamashi, and Guzar districts.

Surkhandarya region: Sariosiyo, Uzun, Oltinsoy, Denov, Boysun, Sherabad, Shorchi, Kumkurgan, and Muzrabod districts.

Samarkand region: Urgut, Samarkand, Bulungur, Nurabad, Kushrabot, Kattakurgan, Payarik, Jambay, and Ishtikhan districts.

Jizzakh region: Zomin, Bakhmal, Gallaorol, Sharof Rashidov, Forish, and Yangiabad districts.

Tashkent region: Ahangaran, Bostanlyk, Parkent, Piskent, Ortachirchik, Yukorichirchik districts, and the cities of Angren and Almalyk.

Namangan region: Pop, Kosonsoy, Chortoq, Chust, Namangan, and Yangikurgan districts.

Fergana region: Sokh, Shohimardon, Fergana, and Besharik districts.

Andijan region: Andijan, Asaka, Jalakuduk, Kurgantepa, Pakhtaobod, Izboskan, Khojaobod, Markhamat districts, and the city of Khanabad.

Citizens living in or traveling through mountainous areas, as well as vacationers and drivers, are urged to take precautionary measures. Uzhydromet also warns that in some areas, rainwater may accumulate, increasing the risk of localized flooding.
