Uzhydromet issues urgent warning

Mudflows and flash floods may occur in foothill and mountainous areas of Uzbekistan due to rainfall expected on June 9–12, Uzhydromet reported.

According to the agency, the risk applies to the following areas:

• In Kashkadarya region: Yakkabog, Dekhkanabad, Chirakchi, Kitab, Shahrisabz, Kamashi and Guzar districts;
• In Surkhandarya region: Sariosiyo, Uzun, Oltinsoy, Denov, Boysun, Sherobod, Shurchi, Kumkurgan and Muzrabot districts;
• In Samarkand region: Urgut, Samarkand, Bulungur, Nurobod, Koshrabot, Kattakurgan, Payarik, Jomboy and Ishtikhon districts;
• In Navoi region: Khatirchi, Navbahor, Nurota, Konimex and Karmana districts;
• In Jizzakh region: Zomin, Bakhmal, Gallaorol, Sharof Rashidov, Forish and Yangiobod districts;
• In Tashkent region: Ohangaron, Bostonliq, Parkent, Piskent, Ortachirchiq and Yuqorichirchiq districts, as well as the cities of Angren and Almalyk;
• In Namangan region: Pop, Kosonsoy, Chartak, Chust, Namangan and Yangikurgan districts;
• In Fergana region: Sokh, Shohimardon, Fergana and Beshariq districts;
• In Andijan region: Andijan, Asaka, Jalakuduk, Kurgantepa, Pakhtaobod, Izboskan, Khojaobod and Marhamat districts, as well as the city of Khanabad.

Residents of foothill and mountainous areas, holidaymakers and drivers traveling through mountainous areas are urged to take precautions.

Rainwater may accumulate in some parts of the country, which could lead to flooding in certain areas.
