More than half of Uzbek football fans were unable to obtain U.S. visas to attend the World Cup, the BBC reported.
According to the source, many fans from countries participating in the tournament have either been denied visas or faced travel restrictions that limit their ability to attend the World Cup.
The data covers the period from October 2024 to the end of September 2025. Therefore, fans who applied over the past eight months were not included in the figures. The analysis included 11 countries: Ecuador, Egypt, Haiti, Algeria, Uzbekistan, Cape Verde, Jordan, Iran, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana and Senegal.
According to the analysis, Senegal had the highest visa refusal rate, with about 80% of visa applications from its citizens rejected. Ghana and the Democratic Republic of the Congo followed. More than half of Uzbek fans were also unable to obtain visas.
Uzbekistan will play its opening World Cup match against Colombia on June 18. The match will take place at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico at 7:00 a.m. Tashkent time. Uzbekistan will then face Portugal on June 23 and the Democratic Republic of the Congo on June 27.
