346 fatal road accidents recorded in Uzbekistan in 3 months

A total of 1,102 road traffic accidents were recorded in Uzbekistan during the first three months of this year, 346 of which, or 31.4%, resulted in fatalities, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
According to the data, 13.6% of accidents occurred due to drivers failing to yield to pedestrians, 32.9% due to speeding, 4.2% because drivers fell asleep while driving, and 22.4% due to violations of traffic light rules.
During the first phase of the “Safe and Healthy Country” campaign, a total of 43,931 оперативные and preventive measures were carried out. As a result, 4,009 drug-related offenses, 4,789 cases linked to organized crime, 25,475 corruption-related offenses, and 6,348 cases related to counterterrorism efforts were identified.
In addition, 489.7 kilograms of narcotic substances and nearly 308,000 units of potent medications were seized. Authorities also uncovered the cultivation of 1,541 plants containing narcotic substances, all of which were confiscated in accordance with established procedures.
Furthermore, 457 weapons and 6,584 rounds of ammunition were seized from organized criminal groups and individuals, helping to prevent potential serious crimes.
Earlier, it was reported that a road traffic accident involving eight vehicles had occurred in Tashkent.
