From now on, animals kept or bred by individuals or legal entities in Uzbekistan must be identified and registered in accordance with the established procedure. This is stipulated in the Law “On Identification, Registration and Monitoring of Animals,” adopted on August 6.
According to the law, the Committee for the Development of Veterinary Medicine and Livestock has been designated as the authorized state body in this area.
The law sets specific deadlines for the identification and registration of animals:
Cattle, sheep, goats, and camels – within 14 days after birth
Horses – within 4 months after birth
Pigs – within 1 month after birth
Dogs and cats – within 3 months after birth
In all cases, animals must be identified and registered no later than one month after the expiration of the above periods.
Animals imported into Uzbekistan for storage or breeding purposes must be identified no later than 21 days from the date of import.
It is worth noting that earlier, it was reported that 100,000 heads of small ruminants would be imported from Mongolia to Uzbekistan. Their number is expected to increase to 1 million by the end of 2029 through breeding and selection in local conditions.
