Kazakhstan is ready to provide additional capacity for the transit of Russian gas to Uzbekistan. The parties are negotiating a significant increase in supply volumes, Kazakhstan’s Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov told journalists at the parliament building on June 10.

“We have such capacity. Everything depends on transport infrastructure. On our side, that is, on the Kazakh side, everything is ready for this. Now, as far as I know, the Russian Federation is negotiating independently with Uzbekistan. As a transit country, we are ready to provide additional transit volumes,” Akkenzhenov said.

He recalled that last year, the transit of Russian gas through Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan exceeded 4 billion cubic meters, while transit to Kyrgyzstan exceeded 500 million cubic meters.

Akkenzhenov added that, according to unofficial information, the volume of gas transit to Uzbekistan is planned to be increased to 11 billion cubic meters.

“As far as I know, there is talk of increasing the volume to 11 billion, which is a very substantial amount. This is information I have heard, but I do not have confirmed data, as the negotiations are being conducted by the Uzbek and Russian sides,” the minister said.

Earlier, it was reported that Russian gas supplies to China through the Power of Siberia pipeline increased by a quarter in 2025, while supplies to Uzbekistan through the Central Asia-Center system rose by 30%.
