As of August 28 this year, the permanent population of Uzbekistan has exceeded 38 million. This is stated in the regularly updated data of the National Statistics Committee.

According to the World Population Review portal, Uzbekistan is currently ranked 43rd among 234 countries by population and holds the leading position in Central Asia. Kazakhstan is second in the region with around 21 million people, followed by Tajikistan with 10.7 million. Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan have populations of 7.6 million and 7.3 million respectively, placing them fourth and fifth. Afghanistan, another country bordering Uzbekistan, has a population of over 43 million.
Earlier, it was reported that a mother born in 2001, residing in the Bunyodkor neighborhood of the Boyovut district of Syrdarya region, gave birth to three sets of twins.
