Couple dies in a traffic accident in Tashkent

Two young people who were reportedly in a relationship were killed in a road traffic accident that occurred in Tashkent on August 31, 2025, Millar reported.

The incident took place in the early morning hours of August 31. A Cobalt vehicle driven by a man born in 1998 was involved in a serious crash after committing a gross traffic violation. At the time of the accident, the car was carrying passengers born in 2001 and 2008. One of them died at the scene, while the other succumbed to injuries later in hospital.

It was reported that the young man and woman who died in the accident were planning to get married in the near future.

The driver responsible for the crash was brought before the court. During the hearing, the defendant expressed remorse for his actions and apologized to the relatives of the victims.

The court found the driver guilty under Article 266, Part 3, Clause “a” of the Criminal Code (violation of traffic safety rules or vehicle operation resulting in severe consequences). He was sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment and banned from driving all types of vehicles for three years. The sentence is to be served in a settlement colony.

It is worth noting that earlier, in Khorezm Region, a Nexia driver collided with a Lacetti traveling in the same direction and then crashed into a roadside tree. As a result of that accident, the Nexia driver died.
