On September 22, Uzbekistan’s capital Tashkent ranked first among the world’s major cities in terms of air pollution, according to the IQAir portal.
As of 19:52, the concentration of fine PM2.5 particles in Tashkent’s air reached 99 μg/m³—19.8 times higher than the average air quality guideline recommended by the World Health Organization.

Health experts advise residents to avoid going outdoors unless absolutely necessary during such conditions. People with chronic respiratory illnesses are recommended to wear medical masks.
After returning indoors, citizens are urged to wash their face and hands thoroughly, prevent dust accumulation inside, keep windows and doors tightly closed, and clean them with a damp cloth several times a day.
