Comprehensive measures will be introduced to reduce air pollution in Tashkent city and the Tashkent region. The Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change has developed a draft resolution titled “On Additional Measures to Prevent Air Pollution and Mitigate the Effects of Climate Change in Tashkent City and Tashkent Region” and submitted it to the Cabinet of Ministers.
The project aims to reduce emissions from industrial enterprises and greenhouse facilities. It outlines a system of comprehensive measures designed to minimize negative impacts on the atmosphere and ensure a gradual transition of enterprises to environmentally friendly technologies.
In particular, the following measures are planned:
- Installation of dust and gas purification equipment at industrial enterprises and greenhouses;
- Replacement of existing boilers in greenhouses with modern, energy-efficient, and eco-friendly systems;
- Transition of greenhouses and industrial facilities from coal to alternative energy sources;
- Provision of financial incentives, including grant mechanisms, to support enterprises in modernizing production, installing purification and local treatment systems, and setting up automatic air monitoring stations.
According to the ministry, these measures are expected to significantly reduce pollutant emissions, enhance environmental safety, and improve living conditions for residents of Tashkent city and the Tashkent region.
It is worth noting that earlier, 144 trees were illegally cut down in violation of the moratorium requirements in the Yakkasaray district of Tashkent.
