From 1 April 2023, the maximum speed limit for vechicles in the cities of Tashkent and Nukus and in the centers of regions and districts will be reduced from 70 kilometers to 60 kilometers per hour.  This was stated in the state program on the implementation of the development strategy of New Uzbekistan for the period of 2022-2026, signed by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev yesterday, 28 February.

Earlier, it was said that starting from 1 June of this year, the maximum speed of vehicles in all settlements of Uzbekistan will be reduced from 70 kilometers per hour to 60 kilometers per hour.  However, taking into account the received proposals, it was determined that this restriction will apply only in the centers of cities and regions.

It is noted that the field of road safety will be reformed based on the idea that “The city is not for cars, but for pedestrians.”

From 1 December 2023, vehicle owners and those who have the been transferred the right to drive the vehicles have been given the right to notify the authorities of the state traffic safety service about the transfer of driving rights by submitting the relevant document (power of attorney, etc.)

In this case, from the date of receipt of the notification, the authorized body will make relevant changes to the Unified Automated Information and Analysis System of the Road Safety Service and the administrative report in relation to the person to whom the right to drive was transferred due to the violation of traffic rules committed by this vehicle.  A formalization procedure will be introduced.
