Shavkat Mirziyoyev meets with New Development Bank President

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on June 18, with Dilma Rousseff, President of the New Development Bank, who arrived in the country to participate in the Tashkent International Investment Forum. The press service of the Uzbek leader reported this.

According to the report, the meeting focused on further developing cooperation with this international financial institution, primarily within the framework of implementing high-level agreements reached during previous meetings.

Dilma Rousseff highly praised the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan and expressed readiness to continue supporting the country’s priority areas of socio-economic development.

Uzbekistan’s accession to the New Development Bank was noted with satisfaction. The parties agreed to form a medium-term portfolio of joint projects with the participation of the bank’s experts in energy, water management, transport and engineering infrastructure, as well as in supporting the private sector and the social sphere. The importance of the New Development Bank’s participation in implementing major transport and logistics projects of regional significance was emphasized.

Special attention was paid to the bank’s participation in environmental transformation programs and projects being implemented in Uzbekistan.

Plans to hold major New Development Bank events in Uzbekistan in the future were also considered.

Earlier, it was reported that Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation led by Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, as part of the next meeting of the Foreign Investors Council.
