Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev made high-level visits to 26 countries in 2025. The information was announced on January 15 during a video conference meeting chaired by the president on the activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions abroad.

“We are meeting today at a time when the world is undergoing sharp geopolitical changes and threats to state sovereignty are intensifying. In such conditions, the era itself demands that we critically review our foreign policy activities and reorganize the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic missions abroad in a new way,” President Mirziyoyev said in his opening remarks.

The head of state noted that 2025 was largely productive in terms of foreign policy. In particular, high-level visits were made to 26 foreign countries last year. For the first time in Uzbekistan’s modern history, official visits by the leaders of Bulgaria, Finland, Slovakia, Serbia, Jordan, and Paraguay to Uzbekistan were organized.

Multilateral dialogue within the “Central Asia Plus” format was described as productive. In recent years, Uzbekistan has established strategic partnership relations with 11 countries, bringing the total number to 19. Alliance relations have also been established with Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Tajikistan.

“As a result of our open, pragmatic, well-considered, and proactive foreign policy, Uzbekistan is increasingly becoming one of the global centers of peace and diplomacy,” the president said.

Since 2017, 16 new diplomatic and consular missions have been opened abroad, bringing their total number to 60, while Uzbekistan has established diplomatic relations with 165 countries.
