On March 24, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was presented with the “Great Silk Road” project planned to be implemented in the territory of New Tashkent.
As part of the development of New Tashkent, construction is planned to be carried out on 6,000 hectares in the first phase. Upon completion of this stage, modern infrastructure will be created for 600,000 residents. Once the project is fully realized, New Tashkent is expected to become a modern мегаполис with a population of 2 million.

The “Great Silk Road” complex, covering an area of 32 hectares, is planned to become one of the key public and cultural spaces in New Tashkent. The area will include residential buildings, commercial facilities, hotels, cultural and educational centers, as well as other modern infrastructure.
According to the concept, themed districts dedicated to various civilizations associated with the Silk Road will be established within the complex. Each zone will represent countries located along the historic Silk Road.
Special attention was given during the presentation to the Uzbekistan district. It was noted that every building, street, and square in this area should reflect the nation’s history, culture, and values.
Plans were also reviewed to renovate a number of museums aimed at showcasing the country’s rich historical heritage, promoting the scientific, cultural, and architectural achievements of ancestors, and increasing international tourism potential.
In particular, it is planned to establish a museum at the Imam Maturidi shrine, featuring halls dedicated to topics such as “Attention to the legacy of Imam Maturidi in New Uzbekistan” and “The life of Imam Maturidi,” as well as sections devoted to the Maturidi school of thought. Proposals were also made to enrich the content of the Bahauddin Naqshband Scientific and Innovation Museum, especially by presenting the lives and heritage of prominent scholars in a modern format within the “Seven Pirs” hall.
In addition, information was provided on plans to renovate the State Museum of the History of the Timurids based on modern museum studies and design solutions. This includes restructuring exhibition halls and offering visitors a high-level visual and educational experience, with each hall dedicated to a specific historical period and theme.
The overall goal of the presented projects is to comprehensively showcase national history on a scientific basis, develop modern cultural infrastructure, and create attractive tourism destinations for visitors to the country.
The projects were approved by the president, and relevant instructions were given for their implementation.
