Drugs found hidden among marble stones in Samarkand

In Samarkand Region, individuals who concealed narcotics among marble stones used in construction have been detained. The State Security Service (SSS) reported this.

According to the report, a joint оператив operation was carried out by officers of the SSS Samarkand Regional Department, the Regional Department of Internal Affairs, and the Customs Department.

As a result of the operation, one foreign national and three citizens of Uzbekistan residing in Samarkand Region were detained.

It was established that the foreign national smuggled narcotic substances into Uzbekistan by hiding them among marble stones intended for construction, while the local citizens were involved in selling the drugs.

During the operation, a total of 37 kg and 421 grams of “extraction opium” were seized as material evidence.

A criminal case has been initiated against the suspects, a pretrial detention measure has been applied, and investigative actions are currently underway.

It is worth noting that earlier, a large shipment of narcotics brought from Tajikistan was intercepted during a joint operation by the SSS Tashkent Regional Department and the Regional Customs Department.
