On April 6, Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan, met in Washington with US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Ambassador Sergio Gor. Mirziyoyeva shared details of the meeting on her Telegram channel.
According to the statement, the talks between the counterparts took place on the eve of the official launch of the US-Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council.
“In the US capital, we held a productive meeting with my colleague, Ambassador Sergio Gor, co-chair of the US-Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council. During the meeting, we discussed key issues related to business cooperation between our countries. The talks took place on the eve of the official launch of the council’s activities,” Mirziyoyeva wrote.
It was also noted that this platform is expected to become an effective mechanism for further strengthening business ties between Uzbekistan and the United States.
“A solid foundation for this is being created by the firm political will of our presidents. The business agenda is continuing,” the head of the Presidential Administration added.
Former Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Komil Allamjonov also took part in the meeting.
It is worth noting that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the United States on November 6–7, 2025. During the visit, the Uzbek leader held talks with US President Donald Trump and took part in the C5+1 summit of the leaders of the Central Asian states and the United States. Following that visit, the US-Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council was established. On the Uzbek side, the council is led by Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration, while on the US side it is headed by Sergio Gor, the US President’s Special Envoy for South and Central Asia. Former Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Komil Allamjonov was appointed counselor-envoy at Uzbekistan’s embassy in the United States and as the Presidential Administration’s representative in the country.
It should also be recalled that the first meeting of the US-Uzbekistan Business Council was held in Tashkent on February 7. During that meeting, Sergio Gor met with Saida Mirziyoyeva and, among other issues, discussed ways to strengthen commercial diplomacy between the two countries.
