Bus carrying Uzbek citizens involved in horrific accident in Russia

Yesterday, October 16, a bus carrying citizens of Uzbekistan, Turkey, and Tajikistan overturned in Russia’s Amur region, TASS reported, citing the regional office of the Russian Investigative Committee.

According to reports, the accident occurred at the 19th kilometer of the road leading to the city of Svobodny. A Toyota Probox car collided with a workers’ bus, causing the bus to veer off the road and overturn. All passengers on board were employees of Turkey’s Yamata company, mostly Turkish citizens, as well as migrant workers from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

As a result of the accident, one of the 49 passengers on the bus died, while 14 others were hospitalized. Thirteen of them were admitted to the traumatology department with moderate injuries, and one person in serious condition was placed in the intensive care unit.
A criminal case has been initiated under part 1, Article 238 of the Russian Criminal Code (’’Provision of services or performance of work that does not meet safety requirements’’).
It is worth noting that earlier, a 22-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan died in a construction accident in the Russian city of Arkhangelsk.
