Uzbek citizen Amonbek Yusupov, accused of committing a crime involving the humiliation of the honor and dignity of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has been extradited from Baku to Tashkent. This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan.

The 43-year-old Yusupov had been placed on an international wanted list and was arrested in Azerbaijan in April of this year. A preventive measure in the form of arrest was imposed on him.

In accordance with the Convention "On Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Matters" dated October 7, 2002, a decision was made to extradite the accused. He was transferred to the competent authorities of Uzbekistan under the supervision of a special convoy of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Justice’s Penitentiary Service.

It should be noted that earlier, the Prosecutor General's Office of Uzbekistan had also secured the extradition of a 25-year-old Uzbek citizen for criminal prosecution.
