President gifts apartment to Javohir Sindorov

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has presented a three-room apartment to Uzbek chess player Javohir Sindorov, the winner of the Chess World Cup. His coaches were also awarded cash prizes. The announcement was made by the President’s press secretary Sherzod Asadov.
In addition, Javohir Sanjarbekovich Sindorov, a member of Uzbekistan’s national chess team, has been awarded the honorary title “Honored Athlete of the Republic of Uzbekistan.”
It should be noted that Javohir Sindorov won the Chess World Cup held in Goa, India.
More than 200 chess players from various countries competed for the main prize in this prestigious tournament. Sindorov advanced to the finals, where he faced China’s Wei Yi. The first two classical games ended in draws. The winner was decided in the tiebreak, where Sindorov secured victory with a score of 1.5 to 0.5, becoming the World Cup champion.
For reference, on his way to the final, Javohir Sindorov defeated Nikita Petrov (Montenegro), Nicolas Theodorou (Greece), Yu Yangyi (China), Frederik Svane (Germany), Jose Martinez Alcantara (Mexico), and Nodirbek Yakubboev (Uzbekistan).
No Uzbek chess player had ever reached the final of the World Cup before. Thanks to this achievement, Javohir Sindorov has now qualified to participate in the Candidates Tournament scheduled for March 2026.
