Trump’s congratulations on Uzbekistan’s Independence Day conveyed

On August 28, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Paolo Zampolli, Special Representative of US President Donald Trump for Global Partnerships, who is on a working visit to the country. The meeting was reported by the press service of the head of state.

The senior US representative conveyed Trump’s greetings and congratulations to Mirziyoyev on the occasion of Uzbekistan’s Independence Day.

During the talks, the sides discussed in detail the prospects for strengthening the strategic partnership and expanding multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States.

The meeting highlighted with satisfaction that productive engagement continues at multiple levels.

“Constructive political dialogue is developing, active inter-parliamentary exchanges are being carried out. Last month, events were held in Congress within the framework of Uzbekistan Day, and this fall the first meeting of the expanded strategic partnership dialogue will be held,” the press service noted.

It was also reported that Uzbekistan and the United States maintain effective cooperation in the fields of security, counterterrorism, extremism prevention, and combating illegal migration.

“The United States has traditionally been an important economic partner of Uzbekistan. In 2024, the volume of trade turnover increased by 15%, while the project portfolio exceeded $11 billion. More than 100 leading US companies participated in the Tashkent Investment Forum held in June this year,” the statement added.

The discussion also touched on opportunities for advancing joint projects in mineral resources, aviation, electrical engineering, agriculture, digital technologies, finance, innovation, and education, among other priority sectors.

The two sides emphasized the importance of developing regional cooperation within the C5+1 format.

Plans for future dialogues and joint initiatives were also reviewed.
