Mirziyoyev awards oriental studies scholar with honorary title

Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Nematulla Ibrohimov, has been awarded the honorary title of "Distinguished Youth Mentor in the Republic of Uzbekistan." A corresponding presidential decree was signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
According to the decree, Ibrohimov received the award in recognition of his many years of fruitful service in advancing science and technology in Uzbekistan, and for strengthening the country's scientific and intellectual potential. The award particularly acknowledges his fundamental research in oriental and source studies, the successful implementation of important scientific developments and projects, his significant contribution to studying and promoting Uzbekistan’s rich scholarly heritage, and his exemplary efforts in mentoring young scientists and fostering patriotism among the youth. The honor also coincides with the 80th anniversary of his birth.
Nematulla Ibrohimov is the author of over 150 books, monographs, and scientific articles. From 1991 to 2005, he served as rector of the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies (now the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies). He was awarded the title of “Honored Scientist of Uzbekistan” in 1990. He also received the Imam al-Bukhari International Prize in 1996 and 1999, and the title of “Excellent Worker of Higher Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan” in 1999.
For reference, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was previously nominated for the Leo Tolstoy International Peace Prize.
