Uzbekistan and Malaysia expand cooperation as Mirziyoyev visits Kuala Lumpur

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will pay an official visit to Malaysia on February 4-5 at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the presidential press service reported.
During the visit, President Mirziyoyev will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Ibrahim, meet with executives of Malaysia’s leading companies, and participate in a joint business forum in Kuala Lumpur. Several other key events are also planned.
Discussions will focus on strengthening Uzbek-Malaysian relations and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, investment, innovation, technology, petrochemicals, electronics, renewable energy, smart agriculture, and tourism. Particular attention will be given to enhancing cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
The two leaders will also address current regional and international issues of mutual interest. Following the summit, both countries are expected to adopt a joint statement and sign a series of agreements aimed at deepening their strategic partnership.
Ahead of the visit, Malaysia is hosting several events to promote bilateral collaboration. These include a conference of leading think tanks and research institutions, presentations showcasing Uzbekistan’s tourism potential and cultural heritage, and a forum of university rectors from both nations.
