President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent a congratulatory letter to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of Victory Day, the Azerbaijani leader’s press service reported.
“I am sincerely pleased to extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to you, my dear brother, and to the entire people of Azerbaijan on your country’s glorious holiday – Victory Day,” the letter stated.
Mirziyoyev also noted that five years ago, thanks to the determination and courage of Ilham Aliyev, a wise leader, a devoted son of his nation, and a prominent statesman, Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity was restored and historical justice was achieved.
“This great event not only vividly demonstrated Azerbaijan’s strength and potential to the entire world but also created a foundation for strengthening peace, mutual understanding, and stability in the region. In this regard, I would like to once again express our full support for your consistent efforts to ensure peace and sustainable development in the South Caucasus,” the message said.
According to Mirziyoyev, during his recent visits to Azerbaijan, he personally witnessed the construction of modern infrastructure in the Karabakh region, the restoration of cultural heritage monuments, and the improvement of living standards for the local population.
“Dear Ilham Heydar oglu, I am confident that our open and productive meetings held this year in the beautiful cities of Baku, Khankendi, and Gabala, as well as the full implementation of the important agreements reached during our meaningful discussions, will elevate our strategic partnership and alliance relations to a new level,” the Uzbek President stated.
Mirziyoyev also invited President Aliyev to visit Uzbekistan to participate in the next Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia.
“On this memorable day in your country’s history, I once again extend my sincere congratulations and wish you good health, family happiness, and great success in your high state activities. I also wish the brotherly people of Azerbaijan peace, prosperity, and continuous development,” Mirziyoyev concluded.
For reference, Victory Day is a national holiday of the Republic of Azerbaijan celebrated annually on November 8. It was established by a presidential decree on December 2, 2020, and is dedicated to Azerbaijan’s victory in the Second Karabakh War (September–November 2020). On November 8, 2020, the city of Shusha was liberated, marking the decisive turning point in the war.
