President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is holding a meeting with education sector employees in the Bostanlik district of the Tashkent region today, September 15, on the eve of Teacher and mentors day. More than 40,000 teachers from across all regions joined the event online, the Presidential press service reported.
At the beginning of his speech, the Head of State sincerely congratulated all teachers, professors, and educators, a community of one million pedagogues, who have dedicated their lives to the noble mission of educating and nurturing the younger generation, on the occasion of this significant holiday.
Last week, a presidential decree was signed on awarding a group of dedicated teachers and mentors, as well as devoted figures in education and science, with high state honors. Among them are not only sector employees, but also generous entrepreneurs who have built or renovated educational institutions at their own expense, international partners assisting in the introduction of advanced achievements in education, and regional governors creating the necessary conditions for the development of education in their territories.
The Head of State presented the high titles, orders, and medals to their recipients.
It was also emphasized that over the past eight years, achievements in the field of education and upbringing have been equivalent to decades of progress, yielding major results and successes. During this period, Uzbekistan’s economy has doubled, and by the end of this year, per capita income will reach $3,500. The gross domestic product is also expected to reach $130 billion by year’s end.
Thanks to the introduction of modern technologies and innovations across all sectors, exports this year will amount to $25 billion. Over the past eight years, the country has attracted $130 billion in foreign investment. Notably, while investments were previously directed mainly toward raw material resources, today they are increasingly channeled into producing new products and improving infrastructure in every sector.
’’Why am I dwelling so much on these economic indicators? Because the stronger the economy, the more education develops. And in a country where the quality of education is high, the economy grows steadily. This is the law of life!’’ Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
Over the past eight years, spending on education and science has increased sixfold, with 378 trillion soums allocated. For the first time in Uzbekistan’s history, the country’s gold and foreign exchange reserves have exceeded the 50-billion-dollar mark.
’’Our economy is growing steadily, and our resources and reserves are sufficient.
Is this not the guarantee for building kindergartens, schools, technical colleges, and universities, equipping educational and scientific institutions with modern facilities, and consistently improving the material well-being of teachers and mentors?
In short, raising the quality of education and improving the working and living conditions of teachers and mentors will remain the top priority of our reforms.
Indeed, in New Uzbekistan, the most important sector is education, and the most respected individuals are teachers and mentors!’’ the President mentioned.
