Tashkent metro sets new passenger record

A total of 1,117,061 passengers used the Tashkent metro on May 8 this year, setting a new record, Tashkent Metro State Unitary Enterprise reported.
According to statistics, the figure is 80.5 percent higher than in the same period last year, showing a significant increase in passenger traffic on the Tashkent metro.
In particular, 986,916 passengers used metro services on May 8, 2025, while the figure reached 1,105,883 on May 7, 2026, marking a 12 percent increase. In addition, 953,220 passengers used the metro on May 15, 2025, compared with 1,044,736 on May 14, 2026, showing a 9.6 percent rise.
It was noted that metro services are used most often on Thursdays and Fridays.
It is worth noting that it was earlier reported that a new metro line could be built on the Mingorik-Chilonzor Clothing Market route.
