In Uzbekistan, the average monthly salary in the private sector, which amounted to 4 million soums last year, has now approached 5 million soums. This was announced today, August 20, during President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s open dialogue with entrepreneurs.
It was noted that as a result of expanding new mechanisms to bring businesses out of the shadow economy, the number of jobs increased by 811,000 in 139,000 enterprises, while 273,000 enterprises raised their wage funds by 22 percent, or 4.6 trillion soums.
Thousands of micro and small enterprises have effectively used the favorable conditions created in a short time and begun competing with large companies. For example, within a year, 1,600 micro enterprises increased their turnover to over 10 billion soums and grew into medium-sized enterprises, while 143 exceeded 100 billion soums and became large enterprises. In addition, 122 small enterprises joined the ranks of big business.
While last year Uzbekistan had 203 enterprises with a turnover exceeding 1 trillion soums, in the first half of this year, an additional 47 enterprises reached the 400–500 billion soum mark.
As in previous years, this year, 49 of the most advanced and dedicated entrepreneurs, from small business representatives to the heads of large enterprises, were awarded state prizes, while 112 received the ‘Active Entrepreneur’ badge of distinction. Among them were also scholars whose knowledge has significantly contributed to the development of business. Over the past year, another 52 entrepreneurs, farmers, and investors were honored with orders and medals.
"We are especially pleased to see the growing number of generous entrepreneurs who sponsor the construction of kindergartens, schools, and hospitals, support families in need, and assist young people.
Business representatives who create opportunities for our children to engage in sports and help them achieve success at world and continental championships, the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and other prestigious international competitions are the true devotees of our nation," the President said.
Taking the opportunity, the Head of State expressed his deep gratitude to business representatives across the country and congratulated them on the occasion.
