Individuals who attempted to bring a large quantity of potent pharmaceuticals from Kyrgyzstan were detained in the Namangan and Fergana regions, the State Security Service reported.
According to the information, a resident of Namangan city, born in 1985, who had previously been convicted under Article 246 (Smuggling) and Article 251-1 (Illegal preparation, distribution, advertising, or circulation of products containing potent substances or toxic materials that are not classified as narcotic drugs, their analogues, or psychotropic substances) of the Criminal Code, once again planned to smuggle potent medicines from the Kyrgyz Republic for sale to earn substantial profit.
For this purpose, he contacted an acquaintance in Kyrgyzstan and requested the delivery of a large batch of medicines. In turn, a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic brought 16,755 tablets of the potent drug “Regapen” into the Kosonsoy district through bypass routes and left them in a hidden location. The Namangan resident then promised his fellow townsman 500,000 soums to transport the medicines from Kosonsoy to the city of Namangan.
During a special operation conducted by officers of the Namangan regional department of the State Security Service in cooperation with the regional department of Internal Affairs, the courier was detained while attempting to retrieve the medicines from their hiding place. The operation was further extended, and the organizer of the scheme was also taken into custody in accordance with procedural regulations.
It was reported that a criminal case has been initiated against the two individuals under Article 246 (Smuggling), part 1, and Article 251-1 (Illegal preparation, distribution, advertising, display, or circulation of products containing potent substances not classified as narcotic drugs, their analogs, or psychotropic substances, as well as toxic substances), part 5 of the Criminal Code. Both suspects have been placed in custody as a preventive measure.
In the case recorded in Fergana region, during a special operation conducted jointly by officers of the State Security Service, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Customs authorities, a resident of Kokand city, born in 1980, who had previously been convicted under Articles 246 (Smuggling) and 273 (Illegal preparation, acquisition, storage, or transfer of narcotic drugs, their analogues, or psychotropic substances with the intent to distribute), was stopped while driving his Tracker-2 vehicle along the “Fergana–Kokand” route.
When the vehicle was inspected in the presence of witnesses, 11,200 tablets of the potent drug “Regapen” were found in the trunk.
Pre-investigation checks revealed that the medicines had been illegally brought from the Kyrgyz Republic through bypass routes. A criminal case has been initiated against the suspect under Articles 28 and 246, part 1, and Article 251-1, part 5 of the Criminal Code, and he has been remanded in custody.
It is worth noting that earlier, members of a criminal group involved in smuggling and selling narcotic drugs from Kyrgyzstan had been arrested in the Andijan region.
