12-year-old girl dies after being hit by iron pole at Karshi market

Reports on social media indicated that a 12-year-old girl died after being struck by an iron pole at a market in Karshi, Kashkadarya region. QALAMPIR.UZ contacted Hayot Shamsutdinov, press secretary of the Prosecutor General’s Office, to clarify the situation.

According to him, on August 26, 2025, due to non-compliance with labor protection regulations at the site of the unfinished multi-storey residential complex “Orzu,” located in the territory of the Oktepa neighborhood in Karshi, an iron pole fell from the 10th floor and struck U.M., born in 2013, on the head. The girl died on the spot.

A forensic medical examination has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death. Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased sustained severe injuries, including hemorrhage into the meninges and ventricles, skull and frontal bone fractures extending to the base of the skull, a fracture and displacement of the middle third of the left clavicle, and hemorrhage into the lungs.

Additionally, forensic and biological examinations have been ordered, and a specialist from the Kashkadarya Regional Department of Poverty Reduction and Employment has been involved. Pre-investigation verification work is currently underway.
