The major political events that took place in China a few days ago remain at the center of global attention — from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit to the military parade. The simultaneous appearance of Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, and Kim Jong-un has taken on a concerning tone for the West. This trio has also caused unease for Donald Trump, who is currently in the White House calculating tariffs.
China is “not joking,” and its actions on the international stage may become even more decisive from now on. What will this mean for the world, and most importantly, for Central Asia — particularly Uzbekistan? Has China changed completely? Is it no longer relying on “soft power”?
With these and other questions, QALAMPIR.UZ turned to Otabek Akramov, a political analyst, doctoral candidate in political science and international relations at the Australian National University, and an expert at the Center for Progressive Reforms.
