297 leaders of Uzbekistan's economic complex who demonstrated inaction and irresponsibility have been dismissed. The announcement was made on December 16 during a videoconference meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The meeting focused on efforts to reduce poverty in neighborhoods through banking services and outlined key plans for 2025.
It was reported that young, forward-thinking individuals capable of introducing new experiences and bringing positive change to people's lives have been appointed to replace the dismissed leaders.
“I solemnly warn you – a leader who does not visit the neighborhood and solve the problems of our people and entrepreneurs will not remain in office. Everything must change. As you can see, the political and economic situation in the world is becoming more difficult every minute, and new threats are emerging. If we do not find answers to them today, it will be too late,” the President stated.
Ahead of the meeting, a detailed calculation was made for each neighborhood to increase the incomes of more than 5 million people and lift 1.5 million people out of poverty by 2025. To achieve this goal, it was noted that leaders of regional economic sectors must change their mindsets and radically rethink their work systems and approaches. The President emphasized the need for regional leaders to engage with local entrepreneurs and adopt a more modern and effective working process.
Additionally, over 40 proposals and initiatives have been prepared to expand the positive experiences of governors and banks and to resolve issues faced in the regions.
"In general, 2025 will be the most important and decisive year in ensuring employment and lifting people out of poverty," President Mirziyoyev said.
