A passenger arriving from Turkey to Fergana city was intercepted while attempting to smuggle jewelry valued at 483 million sums. The regional Customs Department confirmed the incident.

The passenger, traveling on the "Istanbul-Fergana" flight, informed customs officers at the "Fergana Airport" border customs post that he was carrying goods exceeding the import limit but claimed he had no items requiring customs control. He proceeded through the "green lane" without submitting a customs declaration. However, due to suspicion, customs officers halted his actions, subjecting him and his luggage to a thorough customs inspection.

During the inspection, authorities discovered 105 pieces of jewelry, comprising five types, with a total weight of 620 grams and valued at 483 million sums. The items were concealed in the passenger's handbag, worn on his person, and hidden on his body. A preliminary investigation is currently underway.

It is important to note that similar fraudulent activity has been reported earlier, with counterfeit gold being sold in Turkish markets, often difficult to distinguish from genuine gold.
