A man in the Tashkent region was fined over 620 million soums for illegally keeping rare falcons.
A resident of the Tashkent region has been fined more than 620 million soums for illegally keeping rare falcons. This was reported by the Ministry of ecology, environmental protection, and climate change.
According to the ministry, a joint raid was carried out by the Ministry of ecology, the environmental control inspectorate, the Syrdarya water basin control department, and the regional police. During the operation, it was revealed that citizen T.A., living on Samarkand Street in the “Yangi Obod” neighborhood of Chinaz district, was keeping wild birds.
In particular, it was found that one saker falcon (’’Sapson’’) and one merlin falcon (’’Jigoltoy’’), both species listed in Uzbekistan’s Red book, had been illegally captured and kept in a caged enclosure.
In accordance with the law, the incident was formally documented in the presence of witnesses. The birds were seized from the offender and temporarily transferred to the Tashkent zoo for safekeeping.
It was reported that in this case, violations of the laws ’’On hunting and hunting management,’’ ’’On the protection and use of wildlife,’’ and ’’On environmental protection’’ were committed. As a result, damage to wildlife amounting to 620.8 million soums was caused.
All documents collected on the case have been submitted to the Prosecutor General’s Office for legal assessment and appropriate action.
Earlier, it was reported that in the dunes of the ’’Zilkha’’ neighborhood in Oltiarik district and the ’’Boston Buvо’’ neighborhood in Buvayda district of Fergana region, citizens were found to be illegally keeping hedgehogs and snakes and selling soup made from them.
