A large-scale operational and preventive measure, codenamed “Cleanup,” was conducted in the Andijan region, leading to the identification of 106 criminal and 596 administrative offenses—a total of 702 cases. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported the results.
As part of the operation, 117 individuals faced criminal charges, while administrative measures were taken against 633 others. Law enforcement uncovered 39 crimes and detained 30 individuals wanted by authorities. Additionally, 1,123 individuals received official warnings.
During the operation, security forces seized 4.5 kilograms of narcotic substances, 1,453 units of potent drugs, 24 illegal firearms, and 478 sharp objects. These items were registered as material evidence.
Among the notable cases, two individuals born in 2006 and 2002 were arrested for attempting to blackmail a woman born in 1988. They demanded $5,000 in exchange for not distributing her personal information on social media. Law enforcement officers caught them red-handed after they had received $2,500.
In a separate incident, authorities prevented an illegal land deal in Andijan. A resident of the Khojaabad district was caught demanding $300,000 in exchange for securing documents for two hectares of land through high-ranking connections. He was apprehended while receiving a $50,000 advance payment.
Furthermore, a man born in 1967 was found storing 2 kilograms and 37 grams of marijuana, along with 86 units of potent drugs, in his basement. The suspect intended to distribute the substances.
The operation also uncovered cases of unauthorized religious instruction. Two individuals were found illegally teaching 13 minors in an apartment in Andijan since August 2024 in exchange for financial compensation. Another resident of Andijan, born in 1988, was conducting similar unauthorized religious lessons for seven citizens.
Authorities have initiated investigative proceedings into the identified violations, and relevant documents have been prepared.
