Abdusattorov and Sindorov among highest-earning chess players of 2025

Based on the results of 2025, a list of the top chess players ranked by prize money earned at major international individual tournaments has been released.
In the ranking, Uzbek grandmaster Nodirbek Abdusattorov placed ninth. Over the course of 2025, he competed in 16 major tournaments and earned a total of $361,811 in prize money. His largest single prize during the year amounted to $85,000.
Another Uzbek grandmaster, Javokhir Sindorov, also made the top 10 list. He finished in 10th place, earning $349,955 from 11 major tournaments. Sindorov’s highest single prize was $120,000, which he secured thanks to his performance at the FIDE World Cup.
The top spot on the list was claimed by Norwegian grandmaster Magnus Carlsen. He took part in 16 tournaments in 2025 and earned a total of $1.4 million in prize money. The top three also included Fabiano Caruana and Levon Aronian.
