37557Starting May 1, 2025, electricity usage between 201 and 500 kilowatt-hours (kWh) in Uzbekistan will be charged at 800 soums per kWh instead of the previous 900 soums per kWh. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy.
According to the announcement, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted Resolution No. 194, titled “On Amendments and Additions to the Gradual Adjustment Schedule for Fuel and Energy Resource Prices for 2024-2025 to Support Consumers of Fuel and Energy Resources.”
This resolution, developed per the instructions of the country's leader, introduces changes to the gradual adjustment schedule for fuel and energy resource prices, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers’ Resolution No. 204, dated April 16, 2024. The adjustments aim to ease the burden on households. For instance, the increase in fuel and energy prices has been postponed from April 1 to May 1.
It was noted that a new consumption range has been introduced under the differentiated tariff for electricity usage between 201 and 1,000 kWh. Starting May 1, 2025, consumers using between 201 and 500 kWh will pay 800 soums per kWh (previously, the rate was 900 soums per kWh for the 201 to 1,000 kWh range).
“A household consuming an average of 500 kWh of electricity per month currently pays 360,000 soums (90,000 soums for the base 200 kWh and 270,000 soums for usage between 201 and 500 kWh). Following the tariff changes, the cost for the same consumption will remain unchanged at 360,000 soums (120,000 soums for the base 200 kWh and 240,000 soums for usage between 201 and 500 kWh). In other words, the price increase will not affect them,” the report stated.
Additionally, the resolution stipulates that electricity and natural gas prices will be indexed once annually on May 1, based on the annual inflation rate, but not exceeding 10%.
It is worth recalling that earlier, the President issued a decree titled “On Additional Measures to Support Vulnerable Populations During the Introduction of Market Mechanisms in the Fuel and Energy Sector.” Under this decree, state compensation for electricity and gas payments for low-income families was introduced.
