Renowned "Sky Sports" journalist Sam Tighe has praised the playing style of Uzbek footballer Abdukodir Khusanov, who was recently acquired by Manchester City. Tighe also commented that the transfer fee for the 20-year-old defender, at £33 million, was relatively modest for a player of his caliber.
“Khusanov is a very good player—young, fast, and versatile. He’s the opposite of Kyle Walker in many ways. I can’t recall the exact game, but he once sprinted from his own penalty area to the opponent's penalty area at 37 km/h. This shows he can cover large distances with ease. He has a playing style reminiscent of young French defenders—aggressive but disciplined. His ability to read the game and stop attacks with minimal fouls is impressive. Khusanov can track an opponent, read where the real threat lies, and neutralize it. I believe Manchester City have secured one of the best young defenders in the world. The £33m fee is not excessive for a player who could soon reach the elite level,” Tighe said.
For reference, on January 11, football insider Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Khusanov had officially joined Manchester City from Lens for a total of €50 million, including performance-related bonuses. The club is expected to introduce the player publicly in the near future.
Previously, Russian football expert Yuri Semin had criticized Moscow club Spartak for failing to sign Khusanov before he moved to Manchester City.
