Researchers identify early human habitats in Jizzakh

From April 28 to May 6, archaeologists conducted field research and surveys in the Nurata mountain range of Gallaorol district, Jizzakh region, uncovering new Paleolithic and Neolithic-era settlements. The discoveries were announced by the Cultural Heritage Agency.

At Ugat village’s western section, researchers identified a late Paleolithic settlement believed to have been inhabited seasonally or permanently by early humans thousands of years ago.

In Qoropchi village’s northern foothills, two Neolithic-era sites were discovered, providing key insights into the transition to agriculture and animal husbandry.

Near Yonboshtut village, archaeologists identified “Beshbuloq,” another Neolithic settlement, containing traces of social and cultural life from ancient communities.

According to the Cultural Heritage Agency, these new archaeological sites mark an important step in exploring the history of early human habitation in Uzbekistan. Research is ongoing, with plans to analyze findings, publish catalogs and articles, and develop exhibitions showcasing the discoveries.

Previously, archaeologists examined two ancient burial sites and one grave marker in Pastdargam district, Samarkand region.
