It was found that “Jizzakh Territorial Electricity Networks Enterprise” collected excessive money from mosques

It was determined that a total of 58,289.3 thousand soms of money was collected from mosques by "Jizzakh Territorial Power Networks Enterprise" JSC during 2019-2021.  This was reported by the Anti-Monopoly Committee.

It is noted that the Jizzakh regional administration of the Committee conducted a study on the correct application of the tariffs for the electricity supplied to consumers of the "Jizzakh regional electric grid enterprise" Joint Stock Company in 2019-2021.

In the course of the study, JSC "Jizzakh Regional Power Networks Campaign" revealed that the tariffs set for electricity in 2019-2021 were wrongly applied to religious organizations in the region, including mosques.

Resolution No. 364 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 22 August 2003 "On providing social support and benefits for the further improvement of spiritual and educational works and activities in the field of religion" and dated the 2003 Decree No. 525-F from 10 September, provides for communal services (natural gas, drinking water, thermal energy, electricity, telephone, waste water, and household waste transportation) provided to religious organizations in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan from 1 September 2003.  It is noted that the fees will be paid according to the rates set for the population.

Nevertheless, as a result of the non-fulfillment of the requirements of this decision by JSC "Jizzakh Territorial Power Networks Enterprise", it was determined that a total of 58,289.3 thousand soms of excess funds were received from mosques during 2019-2021.

Today, the Jizzakh Region Regional Office of the Anti-Monopoly Committee recalculated 58,289.3 thousand soms wrongly calculated by JSC "Jizzakh RPNC" to mosques.

We remind you that a criminal case was opened against M.A., the director of the branch of "Hududgaz Tashkent", a structural division of JSC "area Gas Supply" in the Tashkent region, and he was detained as a precautionary measure.  In addition, the head of "Yangiyol district gas" U.T. and F.Sh., the former head of "Gulistan District Electric Networks Enterprise" were also arrested as a precautionary measure.
