On the night of September 7–8, 2025, people across the Earth witnessed a rare astronomical event, a total lunar eclipse, also known as a ’’blood moon’’.

Unlike the “blue” or ’’strawberry’’ moons, which are named according to the season, the ’’blood moon’’ gets its name from the reddish hue observed during the eclipse. When the earth, moon, and sun align, the sunlight passing through Earth’s atmosphere bends and scatters, casting a reddish glow along the edge of the moon’s shadow.

The eclipse lasted from 11:28 to 16:55 Eastern time (21:28 to 02:55 Tashkent time). The main event occurred between 13:30 and 14:52 (23:30 to 00:55 Tashkent time), an extraordinary full phase that lasted 82 minutes, remarkably long for a total lunar eclipse.
