A subsidy of 1 million will be given for each hectare of land– the decision of the president

Agricultural land users will receive a subsidy of 1 million som per hectare. This was stated in the Presidential Decree «On measures to increase the fertility and productivity of soils in cotton fields, support for the introduction of new irrigation technologies», signed yesterday, 25 March.

According to the decree, the following incentives will be introduced experimentally for agricultural land users (tenants) in 2022-2023 for measures to improve soil fertility in cotton fields:

- tax incentives will be given for increasing soil fertility and protection against erosion;
- subsidies will be granted for land reclamation, reuse and redevelopment, and land tax will be partially exempt.

As a test in 2022-2023:

- state land users (including clusters) for increasing soil fertility and cotton yields, introducing new knowledge-intensive crop rotation and irrigation technologies, establishing plant protection services and modern laboratories, will be provided with a budget subsidy of $1 million som per hectare;
- tax incentives to improve soil fertility and productivity in cotton fields will be applied to land users with increased soil fertility based on soil sorting analysis;
- the land tax credit is valid for 3 years.

According to the decision, the practice of allocating subsidies will be tested in 13 districts on the relevant list.
