Uzhydromet issues emergency warning

Uzhydromet has issued an emergency warning due to expected rainfall from May 23 to 27, which may lead to mudslides and floods in mountainous and foothill regions across Uzbekistan.
According to the forecast, mudslides and flooding may occur in the following areas:
- Kashkadarya Region: Yakkabag, Dehkanabad, Chirakchi, Kitab, Shakhrisabz, Kamashi, Guzar districts
- Surkhandarya Region: Sariosiyo, Uzun, Oltinsoy, Denov, Boysun, Sherabad, Shorchi, Kumkurgan, Muzrabod districts
- Samarkand Region: Urgut, Samarkand, Bulungur, Nurabad, Kushrabot, Kattakurgan, Payarik, Jambay, Ishtikhan districts
- Jizzakh Region: Zomin, Bakhmal, Gallaorol, Sharof Rashidov, Forish, Yangiabad districts
- Tashkent Region: Ahangaran, Bostanlyk, Parkent, Piskent, Ortachirchik, Yukorichirchik districts, and the cities of Angren and Almalyk
- Namangan Region: Pop, Kosonsoy, Chortoq, Chust, Namangan, Yangikurgan districts
- Fergana Region: Sokh, Shohimardon, Fergana, Besharik districts
- Andijan Region: Andijan, Asaka, Zhalakuduk, Kurgantepa, Pakhtaobod, Izboskan, Khojaobod, Markhamat districts, and the city of Khanabad
Authorities urge residents of mountainous regions, vacationers, and drivers traveling through these areas to take all necessary precautionary measures. There is also a risk of rainwater accumulation across various parts of the country, potentially leading to localized flooding.
It is also worth noting that the Tashkent city administration had previously issued a separate warning regarding worsening weather conditions, including potential power outages, falling trees, and increased dust levels in the air.
