Heavy rains could trigger flash floods in six regions of Uzbekistan

On April 23-24, 2025, heavy rainfall is expected across Uzbekistan’s mountainous and foothill areas, increasing the risk of flash floods. The Uzbekistan Hydrometeorological Service (Uzhydromet) has issued a warning.
Flood risks have been identified in the following regions and districts:
- Samarqand Region: Urgut, Samarkand, Bulungur, Nurobod, Koshrabot, Kattakorgan, Payariq, Jomboy, Ishtikhon.
- Jizzax Region: Zomin, Bakhmal, Gallaorol, Sharof Rashidov, Forish, Yangiobod.
- Tashkent Region: Ohangaron, Bustonlik, Parkent, Piskent, Urta Chirchik, Yuqori Chirchik, Angren and Almalik cities.
- Namangan Region: Pop, Kosonsoy, Chortok, Chust, Namangan, Yangikorgan.
- Fergana Region: Sokh, Fergana, Besharik, as well as Shohimardon.
- Andijan Region: Andijan, Asaka, Jalakuduk, Korgantepa, Pakhtaobod, Izboskan, Khojaobod, Marhamat, as well as Khonabod city.
Residents living in foothill and mountainous areas, tourists, and drivers traveling through these regions are urged to exercise caution. Additionally, water accumulation from heavy rainfall across various parts of Uzbekistan is possible, which may result in localized flooding.
Previously, authorities declared flood risks in eight regions of Uzbekistan.
