9034Earlier, reports circulated on social media about a fatal stabbing incident involving Uzbek nationals in Dubai, which resulted in the death of one individual. Ahror Burkhanov, the spokesperson for Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has issued a statement on the matter.
To clarify the situation, Uzbek diplomats held a meeting with the leadership of the Dubai Criminal Investigation Department.
“The UAE side stated that an investigation is underway and 15 Uzbek citizens have been detained in connection with the incident,” Burkhanov said.
He further noted that the recent surge in offenses committed by Uzbek nationals abroad could negatively impact the visa-free travel regime between Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is cooperating with relevant law enforcement agencies on this issue. We urge all Uzbek citizens to refrain from actions that damage the reputation of our compatriots abroad,” the ministry spokesperson emphasized.
It should be recalled that in November of last year, a court in the UAE sentenced three Uzbek nationals to death on charges of murdering Jewish rabbi Zvi Kogan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan also confirmed to QALAMPIR.UZ that Uzbek citizens were sentenced to death in that case.
