A new telecommunications regulatory agency will be established in Uzbekistan. This is stipulated in Presidential decree No. 140 of August 21, signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, “on measures to improve the regulatory system in the field of telecommunications.”
According to the decree, the Telecommunications Regulatory Agency will be established. The agency will conduct monitoring at least once a month, in accordance with an approved plan, to ensure that the services provided by operators and providers meet the established requirements.
The agency will be financially and structurally independent, as well as autonomous in decision-making within its mandate, and will be accountable to the Cabinet of Ministers in its activities.
It is worth noting that in accordance with the Presidential decree of March 27 of this year, “on measures to improve public administration in the field of energy efficiency and to develop the market for energy service company (ESCO) services,” the National Energy Efficiency Agency was established under the Cabinet of Ministers.
