Medical insurance is planned to be fully introduced in Uzbekistan by the end of 2026

As outlined in the decree of the President titled "On measures to further improve the activity of the Ministry of Health."

According to the decree, both the Minister of Health and the executive director of the State Medical Insurance Fund are personally responsible for ensuring the full implementation of medical insurance nationwide by the end of 2026.

Starting from January 1, 2024, the State Medical Insurance Fund will be integrated into the SSV structure, while maintaining its status as an independent legal entity, along with the current sources and procedures for financing its activities. By January 1, 2027, it will once again operate as an independent fund.

The monitoring board of the fund will independently determine the suppliers, both state and non-state, involved in providing medical services within the guaranteed volume of medical aid, as well as the volume of purchased medical aid, and will formulate its own budget.

For your information, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev issued an order to gradually implement the mandatory medical insurance system in Uzbekistan, starting in 2021.
