The volume of artificial intelligence–based services in Uzbekistan has been estimated at $10 billion. This was announced today, October 21, during a video conference chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the development of artificial intelligence technologies.

According to the report, the goal is to increase the volume of AI-based services to $1.5 billion by 2030. However, foreign experts estimate Uzbekistan’s potential in this sector at $10 billion. To achieve this, the Ministry of Digital Technologies must intensify its efforts, while ministers, governors, and industry heads are required to dedicate one day each week to developing this field.

’’Every minister and governor who travels abroad can see how artificial intelligence contributes to the development of various sectors of the economy and makes life easier for people and businesses. Can we do the same here? Of course, we can,’’ the President stated.

Many enterprises in various sectors have digitized their business processes, reducing expenses by up to 10 percent. The introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) is expected to enhance efficiency further.

The Ministry of Justice and the Tax Committee have launched a 24/7 online consultation system powered by AI. The Customs Committee has implemented an AI-based risk management system. In the field of geology, a video analysis system using AI is being introduced to increase the metal yield from ore by 1–2 percent. This project alone could generate an additional $20 million annually from copper extraction.

It was earlier reported that deputy heads of ministries and sectoral agencies responsible for digitalization will now also be in charge of developing artificial intelligence in their respective areas.
