From the beginning of January 2025 to today, the wholesale price of potatoes in Uzbekistan has risen by 13%, increasing from 6,200 to 7,000 sums. This increase was confirmed by the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

As of January 3, 2025, wholesale prices for potatoes at the "Yangi Koylik" Farmer's Market - Food City shopping complex and the "Eski Juva Chorsu" farmer's market ranged between 3,500 and 6,200 sums. By January 20, these prices had risen to between 4,800 and 7,000 sums.

Data from the Statistics Agency revealed that Uzbekistan imported 627,000 tons of potatoes, valued at 52.6 million US dollars, between January and November 2024.

The largest portion of these imports came from Kazakhstan, with 465.2 thousand tons entering Uzbekistan. Experts suggest that the rise in potato prices may be partly attributed to Kazakhstan's recent decision to halt exports of potatoes to neighboring countries.

On January 18, 2025, Kazakhstan announced that it would suspend potato exports for six months.

According to the official Telegram channel of the Government of Kazakhstan, potato exports surged by 1.5 times this year due to heightened demand, particularly from Uzbekistan, coupled with rising export prices. The volume of potato exports increased from 411,000 tons to 605,000 tons. This surge in demand has had a noticeable impact on Kazakhstan's domestic market, with a sharp rise in prices among exporting producers—from 170 to 270 tenge per ton—observed in the past week.

Additionally, the Ministry of Economy and Finance provided data on the prices of various pulses and leguminous products, alongside potatoes, as seen in the following breakdown:
