Arms donation banned in Uzbekistan

A law signed by the president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev introduced amendments and additions to several legislative acts.

In particular, according to the amendments to the law “On the Prosecutor’s Office”, prosecutors have the right to keep, carry and use service weapons and personal protective equipment in the manner prescribed by law (previously they could only carry them).

It was stated that according to the amendments to the Administrative Responsibility Code, the seizure of firearms, pneumatic hunting weapons and bullets can no longer be imposed on the individuals whose main livelihood is hunting.

Furthermore, administrative liability for violations of the rules of hunting and fishing, as well as other forms of environmental management, has been increased.

In addition, according to the amendments to the law “On Arms”, the donation of civilian weapons and ammunition in Uzbekistan is prohibited.

Employees of legal entities of special services civilian state bodies are subject to periodic medical examinations to ensure that there are no contradictions as to the possession of weapons.

The law also establishes a list of diseases or physical defects preventing the possession of service weapons as well as civilian arms.
