A National Movement of Mass Collection of Waste will be created in Uzbekistan

3605From the 1st of July this year, Uzbekistan will witness a national movement known as the "Mass collection of waste," as mandated by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's decree titled "On measures to transform the field of ecology and environmental protection and organize the activities of an authorized state body."
As per the decree, privatization of landfills will be prohibited starting from 1st July 2023.
Additionally, starting from 1st December 2023, fast charging stations for electric cars will be established in various locations, including gas stations, parking lots with a capacity of more than 100 cars, markets in the areas of Nukus city, regional centers, and cities under the jurisdiction of the region. Furthermore, these fast charging stations will also be set up along the tourism transport corridor known as the "Uzbekistan tourism highway," particularly in the vicinity of gas stations, trade and entertainment centers located on the highways.
To encourage the adoption of electric vehicles and facilitate the development of charging infrastructure, a subsidy of 100 million soms will be allocated for each project to build the first 50 electric car fast charging stations along the desert and desert part of the "Uzbekistan tourism highway" tourism transport corridor.
Starting from the 1st of July 2023, the nationwide movement "Mass collection of waste" will be organized. Furthermore, the decree entails additional initiatives, such as the upcoming competition of innovative and intellectual projects called "Love for Nature," the announcement of a contest for the "Nature Anthem" (music and text), the establishment of the badge for the "Young environmentalists" movement, and the inclusion of "Ekosoat" lessons in the national curriculum of schools.
From the 1st of January 2024, the city of Nukus will introduce the "Efficient House" and "Efficient House" rating system for the use of drinking water. To incentivize efficient water consumption, the 20 households that consume the least amount of water and the 20 apartment buildings where water usage is below 50% of their capacity will be rewarded. The winning apartments and houses will receive free installations of solar panels or home lighting devices. This experiment will be extended to Tashkent city and all regional centers by 2025.
Moreover, in accordance with the decree, the Central Asian University of Environmental and Climate Change Studies (Green University) has been established.
Furthermore, a special platform dedicated to environmental actions organized within the Republic will be launched by 1st of July 2023.
Finally, starting from 1st of January 2024, leases for plots of the state forest fund will only be granted through the "E-auction" platform.
