Uzbekistan plans to export green energy to Europe

Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan have agreed to develop technical specifications and establish a joint venture aimed at exporting green energy to Europe. This agreement was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan.

During a meeting in Baku among the energy and economy ministers of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan, an accord was reached to explore the possibility of exporting electricity from Central Asian countries to Europe through Azerbaijan’s territory. Following the meeting, the ministry heads signed a joint communiqué, acknowledging the potential of their countries in renewable energy and their willingness to participate in the project of exporting electricity generated from alternative sources to Europe.

The participants also decided to form a joint working group tasked with outlining the technical framework for collaboration in energy exchange, particularly focusing on renewable energy sources. Additionally, they discussed plans for developing and exporting green hydrogen and green ammonia, along with establishing the necessary infrastructure.

"The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan stated that a tender will be announced based on the developed and approved technical conditions to lay the initial technical and economic groundwork. Furthermore, the parties agreed to explore the feasibility of establishing a joint venture to execute this project," as per their statement.

It has been announced that the next meeting of the economy and energy ministers from these three countries will take place in the capital of Uzbekistan.
